About Laura Lejeune

Laura, 2020

Laura has had a love of design, pattern cutting and costume from a very young age. Starting formal training from the age of 16, Laura had already been designing and making for the stage for several years. Choosing to study Fashion and Textiles at BTEC National Diploma instead of following the traditional A Level route meant that she could immerse herself full time in fabric creation and clothing construction of all eras, whilst developing a love of pattern cutting from both modern and historical resources. It was later, whilst studying Costume at Wimbledon School of Art, that Laura finally realised the long-held ambition to work in film and TV. Since graduating from Wimbledon School of Art with a BA (Hons) in Costume Design, Laura has been working professionally as a Costume Designer, Cutter and Maker for film, TV and theatre. Her career has already spanned over 20 years, and she works closely with productions to pattern draft, grade, cut and construct costume for principles, crowd/SA and stunt performers, with particular expertise in Men’s fantasy/historical based costume, and Women’s historical costume.

Frequently she is to be found supervising the remote workroom of Midnight Costume Services, managing a team of exceptional costume makers to accommodate production runs from 10 to 3000 pieces, for any era for HETV and Film.

Lauras skills include- but are not limited to- modern and historical pattern cutting and grading, modern and historical tailoring, corsetry of all eras’, historical sewing techniques, textile arts, design and illustration, hand finishing, fitting and modern production techniques.

Lauras credits’ speak for themselves as she has assisted productions as diverse as A Midsummer Nights Dream for the Globe Theatre, Willow for Disney, The Kings’ Man for 20th Century Studios, Giffords Circus, and House of the Dragon for HBO. She is also proud to work closely with Angels the Costumers as a supplier, and is a recognised Disney Vendor.

Previous production credits include films as diverse as The Kings’ Man, Cruella, Mission Impossible and The Little Mermaid, TV shows as extraordinary as The School for Good and Evil, Disneys Willow, Sanditon, Disneys Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Stage shows as incredible as The Welsh National Operas ‘‘Al Wasl’’, Joseph, Arlene Phillips’ Flamenka, Les Miserables, Magic Goes Wrong to name but a few.
